The Albino 3's “Audio Input” module allows external audio from the host software to be routed through the Albino 3. This means that it is possible to use the Albino 3 as a signal processing unit. All of the Albino 3's modules are available so external audio can be modulated, filtered and processed in the Effects section. The Audio Input module is only available in Oscillator 1.
As routing Audio to an instrument can be tricky, we’ll give you a couple of examples here:
In FL Studio you need to use Albino 3 as an insert effect to make use of the Audio In. In this example we picked a Kick track, assigned it a free mixer channel and inserted Albino 3 as effect. To trigger Albino we added a MIDI Out track (in this case I just doubled the notes from the kick track, but the fun starts when you use different notes). Make sure the port of the MIDI Out track and the Albino 3 effect are the same.
In Live
In Live its a very easy, just pick any Audio track and choose the MIDI track you inserted Albino 3 in as the output for the Audio track. We sent Audio track 2 to the third track (the MIDI track) which is holding an Albino 3 as a plugin. Make sure MIDI notes are sent to Albino as its required to trigger the synth to actually process the Audio.
In Logic
Just pick any bus as a side chain in Logic side chain menu of the Albino 3 instrument. You can choose audio from a recorded track or from direct input if you'd like to use it live, just choose the right one from side chain menu.
Attention: you can't use a live input if you choose session track as side chain although it works for playback. However there is a workaround: if you output the audio track to a bus and then choose the bus as side chain it works as expected.
Make sure MIDI notes are sent to Albino as its required to trigger the synth to actually process the Audio.
In ProTools
Just pick any bus as a input in ProTools ”key” menu of the Albino 3 instrument.
Make sure MIDI notes are sent to Albino as its required to trigger the synth to actually process the Audio.
In Tracktion
You need two tracks, an audio track, that is routed to Albino 3 by picking Albino 3 as a filter for the audio track. And a MIDI track; make sure that in track properties of the MIDI track the output of the track is sent to the audio track and thus to Albino 3. Also send MIDI notes to Albino as its required to trigger the synth to actually process the Audio.
